Conservation Quick Tips

You get it, I get it, we all get it!

The world is in trouble, so let’s DO SOMETHING about it. Ready for super easy ways to upgrade your life for the sake of our planet’s future?

Let’s go.

Use What You Have

This is the golden rule for making intentional decisions - before you make a purchase, look around. Do you have something that already works? Who cares if it isn’t the newest, trendiest, etc…Use what you have. Yes, it’s that simple.

Upgrade to Reuseables

There are SO many reasons this is important. Did you know that a single water bottle can leach millions of nanoplastics into your body and bloodstream? Plastics have even been found in placentas.

Reminder: Nanoplastics derive from crude oil. And that shit causes cancer.

No one wants cancer, so put the single-use plastic bottle back.

Say NO to Single-Use Plastics

We’re all sick of hearing it, so get on with cutting these out of your life. Did you know 16 million lbs of plastic waste is dumped into the ocean every year? Yikes.

Make Sure Your TP isn’t Tearing Down Virgin Forests

You read that right. Can you believe a company would even think about cutting down biodiverse centuries-old forests just for toilet paper? Yeah, me neither. But the more people buy it, the more it’s demed acceptable. Try Who Gives A Crap, where they have sustainable values and build toilets for those without (use this link to get 20% off).

Be Better than Balloons

The amount of balloons I’ve picked up on hikes…is enough to make me write this.

I know balloon banners are all the rage these days, but that doesn’t change the fact that they can be dangerous. Balloon releases and the poor disposal of balloons have been responsible for wildlife suffocation, entanglement, and death. It’s time for friendlier options.

No Matter Where You Live, Pay Attention to Your Sunscreen

You should be wearing sunscreen. And as a mainlander or not, the chemicals in sunscreen can be dangerous to marine life. Remember, all waterways lead to the ocean, so make sure you’re picking the right stuff. Don’t worry, I gotchu. This is the article you need.

Wild Animals Deserve Freedom, and Nothing Less

Human activity and exploitation have drastically reduced forests and wildlife numbers. The animal kingdom needs to repopulate from its epic loss of biodiversity or extinction will soon become reality for many species. So let’s work together to put a stop to wildlife trade.

Our human advantage allows us to fiercely protect animals while still protecting ourselves, so why aren’t we fighting for them? Banning the wildlife trade will not only protect animals from extinction and lessen the spread of disease, but it will also curb violence from poaching.
